KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its winning streak for the fourth consecutive session as the benchmark Nepse index gained 40.48 points to close at 1,980.09 points on Sunday.
The market opened for trading at 1,941.52 points. The index immediately started on an upward trajectory and maintained momentum throughout the day, ultimately closing 2.09% higher.
All trading groups ended the day in green, with the Finance sub-index recording the highest gains of 5.72%. The Investment and Development Bank sub-indices followed with gains of 5.11% and 4.66%, respectively.
In terms of turnover, Citizen Investment Trust topped the list with shares worth Rs 114.72 million traded. Shivam Cement and IGI Prudential Insurance followed with turnovers of Rs 108.77 million and Rs 106.85 million, respectively. Similarly, Dolti Power Company Ltd (3,272) had the highest number of transactions, while Sanima Bank Ltd Promoter Shares led in terms of the number of shares traded.
On Sunday, the share prices of 212 companies appreciated, while six companies saw a decline in their share prices. Share prices of five companies remained unchanged.
A total of 9.52 million shares worth Rs 3.45 billion were traded in 61,450 transactions during the day. The total market capitalization reached Rs 2.89 trillion.
