KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has reached New Delhi.
Mukul Dhakal, the General Secretary and Spokesperson of RSP, described Lamichhane’s visit as a private one. “Our President departed for India on Wednesday. He has informed the party that it is a personal visit,” Dhakal told Himal Press.
According to RSP leaders, Lamichhane informed them about his visit to India through a Facebook Messenger group for party leaders. Lamichhane is accompanied by his spouse, Nikita.
The timing of Lamichhane’s visit to India, which coincided with the arrival of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in New Delhi, is being viewed as significant. A few weeks ago, Lamichhane had a meeting with Pralhad, the brother of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when the latter was on a visit of Nepal. Pralhad serves as the President of the India Chapter of the World Hindu Federation.
RSP sources say Lamichhane is likely to meet Pralhad during his India visit.
