Kazakhstan overpowers Nepal to secure spot in final

KATHMANDU: Defending champions Nepal was eliminated from the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup after conceding defeat to Kazakhstan in the second semifinal held at the Nepal Sports Council (NSC) Covered Hall on Friday.

Despite putting up a strong fight against Kazakhstan, ranked 6th in Asia, Nepal suffered a 2-3 defeat. After narrowly losing the first set 28-30, where it missed four set points, Nepal bounced back to claim the next two sets 25-16 and 25-15.

However, Kazakhstan dominated the fourth set with a score of 25-18 and ultimately clinched the final set with a convincing 15-7 victory.

Kazakhstan will now face India in the final showdown scheduled for Sunday. In the first semifinal of the day, India secured an easy three-set win against Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, Nepal will compete against Uzbekistan for the third-place position.
