KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has decided to oppose the Koshi Province Government’s decision to distribute laptops to all province assembly members.
Chief Whip of UML in Koshi Province Assembly, Rebati Raman Bhandari, said the parliamentary party meeting of UML has decided to write to the Koshi Province Government stating that laptops for province assembly members are not necessary.
Interstingly, UML’s Hikmat Bahadur Karki is leading the province government.
“The previous government had included the program in the budget for the current fiscal year. We have learned that the province parliament secretariat began preparation to procure the laptops based on the fiscal budget,” Bhandari said.
We have decided that the distribution of laptops is inappropriate given the shortage of funds for the infrastructure sector and other public works, he added.
