KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted gains of 32.30 points to close at 1877.32 points on Thursday – the last trading day of the week,
This marks the third consecutive trading session in which the benchmark index has closed in positive territory. On Wednesday, the Nepse index had gained 23.4 points, and on Tuesday, it had gone up by 3.31 points.
All trading groups experienced posted on the day. The Hotels and Tourism sub-index recorded the highest increase, rising by 3.75%, followed by the Trading and Hydropower groups, which closed 3.71% and 2.82% higher, respectively.
Nepal Doorsanchar Company Ltd topped the turnover list, with shares of the telecom company worth Rs 86.34 million traded during the day. Shivam Cement and NIC Asia Limited followed closely, with turnovers of Rs 71.11 million and Rs 67.67 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, daily turnover crossed the billion-rupee mark for the first time in 25 trading sessions on Tuesday. Daily turnover had been declining after the stock exchange recorded turnover of Rs 1.65 billion on March 13. Shares worth Rs 1.47 billion, totaling 4.42 million shares, were traded on Thursday.
