KATHMANDU: As many as 54 sheep died when lightning struck their flock in Panchthar district on Saturday. Most of them were lactating ewes.
According to the District Police Office, Panchthar, Prem Bahadur Rai (55), a shepherd, of Yangbarak Rural Municipality-3 was injured in the incident. “Although he doesn’t have external injury, the left side of his body is not functioning,” DSP Hari Khatiwada, chief of the District Police Office, Panchthar, told RSS news agency.
The flock was being raised jointly by Prakash Rai, Shukra Bahadur Rai, Surendra Angbo and Tek Bahadur Gurung. It had 130 sheep.
