KATHMANDU: The market ended its losing run stretching four trading days as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index gained 15.14 points to close trading at 1,920.13 points on Wednesday.
The market opened for trading at 1,903.36 points and posted gains in the initial trading session, hitting an intra-day high of 1,924.4 points. The market, however, tumbled thereafter before rallying toward the close to ultimately close 0.79% higher.
Except for Mutual Mund, which was down by 0.47 points, all trading groups posted gains on the day. The maximum gain came from the Development Bank sub-index which was up by 1.27%. Next on the list were Finance and Trading sub-indices which logged gains of 1.13% each.
Promoter shares of Swabalamban Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha were the most traded scrip on the day as Rs 88.31 million worth of promoter shares of the microfinance institution were traded on the day. Next on the list were Nabil Bank Ltd and NIC Asia Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 36.61 million and Rs 31.85 million, respectively.
A total of 2.58 million units of shares worth Rs 872.14 million were traded in the secondary market on Wednesday.
