KATHMANDU: Government employees have threatened to bring daily operations at Singha Durbar, the government’s administrative center, to a halt.
Several unions of employees affiliated with different political parties said they decided to launch protests as the government was not addressing concerns raised by them in the Federal Civil Service Bill.
As part of the protest, government employees have stated that they will send text messages to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on May 2 and 3 to draw his attention to their protest. Additionally, employees working within the Singha Durbar premises won’t report to their respective workstations on May 4.
Prakash Bhattarai, a leader of the employee union, stated that the protest was necessary as the government has shown no intention to address their demands. “We urge the government to endorse the Bill during the ongoing parliamentary session,” he added.
