KATHMANDU: Nepal Engineering Council has started taking license examinations for the registration of engineers. Altogether 2,006 engineering graduates appeared in the license examination organized at the Pulchowk Engineering Campus on Sunday.
Shiva Mangal Giri, the registrar of Nepal Engineering Council, said engineering graduates from now onwards must pass the license examination to practice as an engineer. Examinations are being held in 20 branches of engineering, according to Giri.
This is the first time that the Nepal Engineering Council is conducting licensing examination. Earlier, it used to award licenses on the basis of academic certificates issued by the university.
According to Giri, graduates who have already received license from the council needn’t appear in the licensing examination.
