POKHARA: The Pokhara High Court has acquitted actor Paul Shah who was previously convicted by the District Court of Nawalpur for sexually molesting a minor.
A division bench of High Court Judges, Dilliraj Acharya and Shreedhara Kumari Pudasaini, acquitted Shah, stating that the prosecution’s claim was insufficient.
Earlier, on January 17, the District Court of Tanahun had acquitted him of all charges. However, the District Court of Nawalpur had sentenced the actor to two and a half years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
A 17-year-old singer had filed separate complaints against Paul Shah in February last year, accusing the popular actor of raping her in Tanahun and Nawalpur districts.
Although the singer had initially recorded a statement saying that Shah raped her with a false promise of marriage, she later changed her statement in April, stating that the information in her complaints was false.
