KATHMANDU: Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane is visiting District Administration Office, Kathmandu, on Sunday to initiate the process of reviving his citizenship.
“We will respect the Supreme Court’s order and initiate the process on Sunday. One cannot remain noncitizen,” Lamichhane’s aide Navaraj Pandey told Himal Press.
Pandey also said that Lamichhane has left his quarter and returned all the facilities provided to him as the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Supreme Court Friday noted that Lamichhane’s citizenship is not active, and ruled that he cannot hold public positions as a Nepali citizen.
