KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has forged an understanding on ministerial portfolio sharing.
Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli forged the understanding on Monday.
As per the understanding, CPN-UML will get eight ministries and two ministers of state. Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center) will get four ministries and one minister of state.
While Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will get three ministries including health, Rastriya Prajatantra Party will get two ministries. The party is almost certain to get the energy portfolio.
According to a leader who attended the meeting, Janata Smajabadi party (JSP), Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party will each get one ministry.
JSP is almost certain to get the urban development portfolio. Likewise, both Maoist Center and RSP are laying claim to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal assumed office on December 26. He has appointed three deputy prime ministers and four ministers.
