KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) saw some corrections on Tuesday after posting gains for four straight sessions. The benchmark Nepse index went down by 21.35 points to close at 2,190.42 points.
The market opened for trading with the Nepse index at 2,211.77 points. The market was on a course to log gains on the fifth straight session by midday, with the benchmark index hitting an intra-day high of 2,277.42. The index, however, fell thereafter to eventually close 0.96% lower.
Only two sub-indices – Banking and Mutual Fund – posted gains on the day. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 4.31 points. Hotels & Tourism and Non-Life groups followed suit losing 3.41% and 2.87%, respectively.
Ngadi Group Power Ltd was the most traded stock of the day as Rs 212.10 million worth of shares of the hydropower company were traded on the day through 3,186 transactions. Next on the list were Api Power Company Ltd and Ridi Power Company Ltd with total turnovers of Rs 206.70 million and Rs 181.53 million, respectively.
A total of 20.84 million units of shares worth Rs 7.66 billion were traded on the bourse on the day. Total market capitalization reached Rs 3.16 trillion.
