KATHMANDU: The anti-establishment faction of the Nepali Congress led by Dr Sehkhar Koirala has decided to hold a gathering of leaders to review the November 20 elections and the failure of the five-party coalition.

A meeting of leaders close to the faction held at Dr Koirala’s secretariat on Wednesday decided to hold the gathering to prepare a common stance for discussion in the party’s central working committee meeting scheduled for January 6.

“The meeting today discussed the latest political scenario. We discussed the November 20 election and the failure of the five-party coalition,” party leader Arjun Narsingh KC, who attended the meeting, said. “Since the meeting failed to form a common stance on these issues, we have decided to sit again.”

The NC is holding its central working committee meeting on January 6. According to KC, today’s meeting decided to hold the gathering of leaders before the central working committee meeting.

Along with Koirala, Vice President Dhanaraj Gurung, General Secretary Gagan Thapa, Joint General Secretaries Jivan Pariyar and Badri Pandey, and leader KC, Chandra Bhandari, Minendra Rijal, Ram Krishna Yadav and Sarita Prasain, among others, were present in the meeting.
