KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak to the fourth day, losing 31.97 points to close the week’s first trading day at 1,885.31 points on Sunday.
The market opened for trading at 1,917.28 points and immediately started a downward journey. Though the market attempted to recover toward the end of the first hour of trading, it continued the slide throughout the session to eventually close 1.67% lower.
All the trading groups ended the day in red with the biggest loss coming from the market heavyweight Banking sub-index which was down by 2.3% to 1,307.13 points. Manufacturing & Processing and Others sub-indices fell 1.64% and 1.46%, respectively.
Share prices of CYC Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd and Summit Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha were at the top of the gaining stocks as their share prices hit the positive circuit of 10% on the day. Similarly, Nadep Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha was as at the top of the losing stocks with its share price down by 10%. Share prices of Pancthar Power Company Ltd and Nepal Investment Bank Ltd also fell by 6.97% and 5.74%, respectively.
A total of 3.51 million units of 253 scrips worth Rs 1.10 billion were traded in the market through 24,644 transactions on the day. Total market capitalization reached Rs 2.71 trillion.
