KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) fell below the psychological support level of 2,700 points, closing 10.25 points lower at 2,698.44 points on Sunday.
Although the benchmark index started on a positive note, hitting an intra-day high of 2,728.44 points, it lost momentum after the hour mark and ultimately closed 0.37% lower.
Despite the loss, total turnover improved to Rs 11.65 billion compared to the previous session, with 26.23 million units traded through 111,978 transactions.
Unit prices of 168 scrips declined during the session, while 85 advanced and seven remained unchanged. Super Madi Hydropower Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 560.34 million worth of shares traded. Ankhukhola Jalavidhyut Company Ltd and Ridi Power Company Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 514.95 million and Rs 477.49 million, respectively.
Among sectoral indices, only Others and Investment sub-indices posted nominal gains. The remaining 11 sub-indices ended in the negative territory. The biggest loss came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which ended 2.13 points lower. Next were Trading and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices with losses of 1.3% and 1.15%, respectively.
