Nepse posts marginal gain; turnover down to Rs 6.2 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a nominal gain of 1.52 points to close trading at 2,641.43 points on Wednesday, the last trading session of the week.

The benchmark index remained in the positive territory for most of the session and climbed to an intra-day high of 2,648.82 points. However, it lost momentum and slipped into the intraday low of 2,633.22 points. A rally toward the close ensured that the index closed the session in the green with nominal gains.

Unit prices of 125 scrips advanced during the session, while 124 declined and 111 remained unchanged. Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 262.4 million worth of shares traded. Union Hydropower Ltd and SY Panel were next with turnovers of Rs 232.67 million and Rs 220.18 million, respectively.

Total turnover fell slightly to Rs 6.2 billion with 12.5 million units traded.

Among sectoral indices, eight posted gains and the remaining five closed the session lower. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which finished 2.55% higher. Similarly, the biggest loss came from the Manufacturing & Processing sub-index, which was down 0.41%.
