POKHARA: Voting for the new leadership of Youth Association Nepal, the youth wing of the ruling CPN-UML, has concluded.
A total of 80% of the votes were cast in the election. Out of 1,764 representatives participating in the 10th National Convention of the association, 1,404 cast their votes, according to Ishwari Paudel, the Election Officer.
The voting, which started at 10 am at Pokhara City Hall, was originally scheduled to end at 3 pm. However, it was extended by an hour as voters, who entered the polling station by 4 pm, were allowed to cast their votes.
Since the association has used electronic voting machines, Paudel said preliminary results will be announced within an hour of the conclusion of voting.
The 10th General Convention will elect a 151-member executive committee of the Youth Association of Nepal. Incumbent Chairperson Kshitiz Thebe and General Secretary Suman Puri are competing for the leadership of the association.
