76th Independence Day of Pakistan celebrated

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu celebrated the 76th Anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony on Monday.

Charge d’Affaires Umair Ali raised the national flag during the event. The ceremony was attended by embassy officials and members of the Pakistani community.

On the occasion, Charge d’Affaires Umair Ali read out messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. In his address, Ali reflected on the unwavering determination of Muslims in 1940 to establish a separate homeland for themselves and generations to come. He emphasized the importance of recommitting to the vision of making Pakistan the homeland that their forefathers had aspired for.

Earlier on Thursday, the Embassy of Pakistan organized a reception to celebrate the 76th Independence Day. Vice President of Nepal Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav was the Chief Guest at the event. Other special guests included members of civil society, intellectuals, journalists, diplomats and the Pakistani community in Nepal.

On the occasion, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal Abrar H Hashmi appreciated the close and cordial relations existing between Pakistan and Nepal. He also said Pakistan and Nepal have traditionally enjoyed friendly relations and have developed strong bonds and linkages which spread over a wide spectrum in different fields.
