KATHMANDU: Disaster incidents have claimed 70 lives since the beginning of the monsoon in the second week of June.
According to Nepal Police Spokesperson, DIG Dan Bahadur Karki, 86 others are injured while five people are missing as of Monday morning. The injured are receiving treatment at different hospitals, he said.
As many as 86 houses have been damaged, and 364 livestock have been killed in different disaster-related incidents triggered by monsoon rains, Karki added. “Such incidents have caused property losses worth Rs 95.67 million,” he added.
A total of 4,790 police personnel have been mobilized for search and rescue purposes, according to Nepal Police.
