KATHMANDU: A total of 64 motor vehicles, including 35 brand-new electric vehicles (EVs) imported from China, were swept away by the flood in Rasuwagadhi on Tuesday morning.

According to the District Administration Office, Rasuwa, 23 container trucks and six cargo trucks were also washed away by the flood in Lhendekhola-a tributary of the Bhotekoshi River.

The flood also caused significant damage to the dry port near the Rasuwagadhi customs point along the Nepal-China border. Twenty people have been reported missing so far, including three Nepal Police personnel, six workers at the dry port, five container drivers, and six Chinese nationals, according to the local administration.

Similarly, Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project (111 MW) has been forced to shut down completely after the flood damaged its dam site. Similarly, Chilime Hydropower Project (20 MW) has halted production after flood debris entered its oil radiator system.

The Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project (60 MW) also sustained damage at its dam site, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority.

A Nepal Army helicopter rescued 55 people from high-risk flood zones along the riverbanks. The flood swept away the Nepal-China Friendship Bridge over the Lhende River, cutting direct access to the Chinese border town of Kerung.
