KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army celebrated the 261st anniversary of its establishment by organizing a special program at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, on Friday.
President Ram Chandra Paudel, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, ministers, members of parliament, officials of constitutional bodies, high-ranking officials of the Government of Nepal, and heads and representatives of diplomatic missions, among others, participated in the program.
On the occasion, President Paudel paid floral tribute at the army memorial and received the guard of honor offered by a platoon of the Nepal Army. President Paudel is the Supreme Commander of the Nepal Army. He also launched Nepal Army’s annual publication ‘Sipahi’.
Army choppers showered the participants and guests with flower petals after flying over Kathmandu Valley displaying the message of the Nepal Army Day and the national flag. Likewise, a platoon of the Nepal Army presented the special Maha Shivaratri parade. Various weapons, equipment, and motor vehicles used by the Nepal Army were displayed during the event.
The Nepal Army has been celebrating the day of Maha Shivaratri as its establishment day.
