KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of the party.
In a meeting with party President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s residence on Wednesday, Koirala expressed dissatisfaction over the party’s decision on government formation in Koshi Province, the functioning of the federal government, and handling of the party’s sister organizations, among others.
Vice President Dhanaraj Gurung and Joint Secretary Jivan Pariya accompanied Dr Koirala in the meeting.
The meeting held ahead of the party’s central working committee meeting, which kicks off on Thursday, is seen with great significance. Earlier, leaders close to Dr Koirala’s faction held a meeting in Kathmandu to prepare for the central working committee meeting.
“Dr Koirala requested Deuba not to take their silence on his unilateral handling of party affairs as their weakness,” an NC leader told Himal Press. “You have been taking decisions against the party statute one after another. These issues are neither discussed in the party, nor other leaders are consulted.”
Dr Koirala also said that NC was shouldering the responsibility for a series of bad decisions taken by the coalition government led by the CPN (Maoist Center).
Responding to Dr Koirala, Deuba said that he was committed to forging a consensus of all on party decisions.
