KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has deployed a workforce of more than 550,000 to conduct the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Thursday in a free, fair, and secure environment.
A total of 557,202 personnel from the civil service and security agencies, as well as temporary election police personnel, have been mobilized for the election.
To strengthen the security of polling stations, the government has mobilized all four security agencies under an integrated security plan. According to the EC, 79,727 personnel from the Nepali Army, 75,797 from the Nepal Police, 34,567 from the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal, 3,021 from the National Investigation Department, and 149,090 temporary election police have been deployed.
Different security agencies have recruited 149,090 temporary election police personnel for the election.
In addition, 215,000 civil servants have been mobilized for the election.
The EC has expressed confidence that the strong presence of security forces will help voters feel safe and curb any anti-election activities.
Civil servants will lead the voting process at polling centers across the country. They will distribute voter identity cards and ensure the security of ballot boxes.
Security agencies will form different layers outside the polling stations to prevent any untoward activities.
