5 dead in Ramechhap road mishap

KATHMANDU: Five people died and eleven others were injured in a passenger vehicle accident in Ramechhap district on Thursday.

According to the District Police Office, Ramechhap, the ill-fated vehicle met with an accident near Magargaun in Kauchhini of Manthali Municipality-7. The vehicle was traveling from the district headquarters of Manthali to Kachhauni. It fell 100 meters off the road.

Three of the injured individuals are in serious condition and have been rushed to Kathmandu for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Gyandani Tamang (55), Jensung Tamang (68), Nandamaya Bhandari (82), Lakpa Ghising (8), and driver Dal Bahadur Ale Magar (52).

Police have reported that the accident occurred due to brake failure.
