47 members elected unopposed in Gandaki provincial committee of UML

POKHARA: A total of 47 leaders have been elected unopposed to the new executive committee of the Gandaki Provincial Committee of CPN-UML.

According to Chief Election Officer Surendra Thapa Magar, party representatives will now proceed to elect candidates for the remaining 41 posts.

A total of 277 candidates are competing for the vacant positions. The provincial committee has arranged electronic voting machines for the election.

The 1st General Convention of the provincial committee will elect a 162-member executive committee of the provincial committee. The incumbent chairman, Navaraj Sharma, and the party’s central committee member Mayanath Adhikari are competing for the position of province chair.

Baburam BK (Nawalpur), Rashmi Acharya (Kaski), Santosh Rawal (Myagdi)  and Mina Gurung (Kaski) are the candidates for the posts of Vice Chairman,  Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Secretary (Women) from Adhikari’s panel. Similarly, Min Prasad Gurung (Syangja), Dhananjaya Dawadi (Lamjung) Dam Bahadur BK (Kaski ) and Manju Adhikari (Parbat) are contesting for the posts of Vice Chairman, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Deputy Secretary (Women) from Sharma’s panel.

The general convention will also elect five office-bearers, 58 members (province/open), 13 members (province/inclusive), 18 members (federal constituencies), 61 members (district/geography), and seven members for the accounts committee.
