KATHMANDU: The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kathmandu organized a reception in Kathmandu on Friday to mark the 35th anniversary of the Day of German Unity and 67 years of Nepal-Germany diplomatic relations.
Vice President Ram Sahay Yadav, along with senior government officials, political leaders, diplomats, business representatives, journalists and members of the intellectual community, attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, German ambassador to Nepal Udo Eugen Volz said Germany has stood by Nepal through challenging times — during the civil war, the 2015 earthquakes, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the current democratic renewal. “We appreciate Nepal’s commitment to reinforcing democratic values such as accountability and service delivery to its people,” he added.
This year also marks 51 years of GIZ’s presence in Nepal, 62 years since the establishment of KfW, and 18 years of the establishment of PTB—Germany’s national metrology
institute. These institutions have contributed to Nepal’s socio-economic development through technical and financial cooperation, as well as support for strengthening standards, metrology, and quality infrastructure to promote fair trade and industrial competitiveness, the embassy said in a statement.
