25th Street Festival kicks off in Pokhara [In Pictures]

POKHARA: The 25th Pokhara Street Festival kicked off in the tourist city of Pokhara on Thursday.

The Pokhara Chapter of the Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) is organizing various programs in Lakeside, Pokhara, for five days to celebrate the silver anniversary of the street festival this year.

Started as a street food festival 25 years ago to promote Nepal as a New Year destination, this festival is probably the largest and longest-running event in the Nepali tourism industry.

Before the opening of the festival, a colorful procession showcasing various arts, cultures, ethnicities, and costumes was taken out on the lakeside street.

Dhanraj Acharya, the mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality, inaugurated the festival. Hotels and restaurants have set up stalls on the street showcasing different cuisines. Various stalls have been set up on the three-kilometer stretch on the banks of Fewa Lake from Fishtail Gate to Jareshwar.
