KATHMANDU: Twenty Nepali cricketers are traveling to India to participate in a special training camp to prepare for the Asia and East Asia-Pacific Regional Qualifiers for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Friday that these players will train at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. CAN arranged the special training with support from the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The training camp will be held between July 21 and August 3. After completing the special training in Bangalore, the Nepali team will leave for the Australia tour.

The 20 players are part of the 32-member preliminary squad announced for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifiers to be held in Oman. The remaining 12 players will train in Nepal itself.

The regional qualifiers feature nine teams divided into three groups. Nepal is pooled in Group ‘B’ with Japan and Kuwait.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Six stage. The top three teams after the Super Six stage will qualify for the T20 World Cup to be hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka next year.
