Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti forge working alliance

KATHMANDU: Janamat Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party have forged a working alliance on key issues.

Janamat Party Chairman CK Raut and Nagarik Unmukti Chairman Ranjita Shrestha signed an agreement to this end on Sunday.

Issuing a statement on Sunday, the two parties said the two emerging alternative forces in the country have decided to forge cooperation to put pressure on the government on issues related to general public.

Among others, the two parties have agreed to work for the release of Nagarik Unmukti Party’s founder Resham Chaudhary and other political prisoners of the Tikapur incident. They have also decided to put pressure on the government for the effective implementation of National Criminal Procedures (First Amendment) Ordinance and for the endorsement of the Citizenship Act (Amendment Bill.

Likewise, the two parties have agreed to jointly pressure the government to make public the report of a commission led by former Supreme Court Justic Girish Chandra Lal.
