18 SPs recommended for promotion to SSPs [With names]

KATHMANDU: Eighteen Superintendents of Police (SPs) of Nepal Police have been recommended for promotion to Senior Superintendent Police (SSP).

The Promotion Committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs made the recommendations. The cabinet will take the final call on promotion.

Thirteen posts became vacant with the promotion of SSPs to the post of Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs). Similarly, five more posts became vacant with the retirement of SPs.

SP Bimal Basnet, who missed out on promotion earlier, has been left out this time as well. He is one batch senior to most of the senior officers recommended for promotion to SSPs.

Bishwa Ashikari ranks first in the 18-member list recommended for promotion securing 83.7769 marks out of 100. Other SPs recommended for promotion include Bhupendra Bahadur Khatri, Sanuram Bhattarai, Om Prasad Adhikari, Shekhar Khanal, Abi Narayan Kafle, Somendra Singh Rathore, Mukunda Marasini, Dip Shamsher JBR, Bel Bahadur Pandey, Dinesh Raj Mainali, Gopal Chandra Bhattarai, Pravin Pokharel, Ganga Pant, Krishna Bahadur Palli Magar, Bishwa Mani Pokharel, Taradevi Thapa, and Prajwal Maharjan.

Along with Basnet, other SPs like Ravi Kumar Poudel, Navin Raj Rai, Abhushan Timsina, Basanta Rajoure, Bir Bahadur Oli, and Chandradev Rai were in the race for promotion to SSP.
