175 Nepali peacekeepers off to South Sudan

KATHMANDU: A new contingent of 175 Nepali peacekeepers has departed for South Sudan to serve in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

Issuing a statement on Friday, the Nepal Army said the 15th contingent from the New Gorakh Battalion left for South Sudan on Thursday to replace the 14th contingent of the Shree Nath Battalion.

A team of 175 personnel returned home after completing their mission on Thursday, the Nepal Army said in the statement.

According to the Nepal Army, a total of 1,757 Nepali peacekeepers are currently serving in UNMISS.
