16 convicted for murder of two youths in Baglung two years ago

KATHMANDU: Baglung District Court has convicted 16 persons for the killing of two youths in Baldedhuri during Holi celebrations two years ago.

A single bench of Judge Dr Diwakar Bhattarai handed life terms to 15 of the accused. One of the accused, who is a minor, will be sent to a reform center.

“Sixteen accused have been handed life terms as per Clause 177 (2) of the National Criminal Procedures Code,” Surya Prasad Bhandari of Baglung District Court said. “The minor will have to serve two-thirds of the term behind bars when he turns 18.”

Two gangs of youths fought with each other at Baldedhuri which shares with boundary with Gulmi, Pyuthan and Baglung districts on the day of the Holi festival two years ago.

Youths of Badigad-10 of Baglung had brutally beaten Prakash Kunwar and Deepak Pariyar of Nishikhola-10 and threw them down a hill. The duo died on the spot.

Police have arrested 19 youths on the charge of murder of the two youths. Of them, 16 have been convicted.
