KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides caused by continuous rainfall since Friday night have resulted in 14 deaths across the country, police say.
Three others are missing while 18 are injured, according to Nepal Police Spokesperson DIG Dan Bahadur Karki.
According to the police, three have died in Tanahu and Syangja, two each in Parbat and Kavre, and one each in Kathmandu, Udayapur, Palpa and Dang.
According to police, Hira Nepali, Anisha Bastola and Shyam Bhandari of Shuklagandaki-7 of Tanahun; and Guheshwari Sharma Marasini, Madhav Sharma and Harimaya Sharma of Syangdi in Birua-6 of Syangja also died when their houses were swept away by the landslide. Manoj BK of Lakhan Thapa Rural Municipality-6 of Gorkha died in a landslide in Nagarjung-3 of Kathmandu. Similarly, Raj Rai of Rautamai-5 of Kavre, and Jalmaya Ruchal and Seti Maya Ruchal of Roshi-11 of Kavre also died in different landslide incidents.
Likewise, Jhalak Prasad Sharma and Tulsi Prasad Sharma of Karkineta in Phalebas-1 of Parbat; Rima Rana Magar of Mathagadhi-6 of Palpa; and Maniyam Chaudhary Lamahi-8 of Dang also died due to landslide
Jangmu Sherpa from Dolakha, Rajkumar Yadav from Dang and Khem Kumari Malla from Syangja are out of contact.
