1,246 polling centers in Madhesh ‘highly sensitive’

JANAKPURDHAM: More than 1,200 polling centers in Madhesh Province for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5 have been categorized as highly sensitive.

According to the Madhesh Province Police Office, 1,246 out of 2,160 polling centers have been placed in the highly sensitive category.

All of these highly sensitive polling centers are located along the border with India.

Kamal Thapa, the spokesperson for the Madhesh Province Police Office, said at a press meet on Thursday that systematic planning is underway for monitoring and security arrangements at these locations.

According to the provincial police, 755 polling stations in 32 constituencies of the province have been classified as sensitive, while the remaining 159 have been considered normal.

Eight districts of Madhesh Province have a total of 4,771 polling stations.

A total of 1,028 candidates, including those from various political parties and independent contenders, are contesting the election in Madhesh Province.

The province has 3,517,123 registered voters.
