11 injured due to overcrowding in Khullamanch

KATHMANDU: Eleven people were injured due to overcrowding at the Khullamanch open-air pavilion in Kathmandu on Monday.

A huge crowd of people reached Khullamanch, which was simultaneously hosting the Maghi festival of Tharu people and Ubheli of Magar people, on Monday. Most of the people were injured near the entrance to the event venue, according to police. A majority of the injured are women and children.

According to police, Trisana Magar (12) from Khotang, Anjana Tamang (12) from Sindhupalchowk, Rejina Ghale (19) from Dhading, Nikita Magar (16) from Dhankuta, Rekha Chaudhary (30) from Bardiya, Anisha KC (16) from Pyuthan, Kalpana Chaudhary (25) from Kailali, Mandira Basnet (22) from Sunsari, Meena Thapa (40) from Kathmandu, Riza Reshmi Magar (19) from Kailali, and Police Constable Prithvi Budha Magar were injured in the incident.

All injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at the Trauma Center.
