KATHMANDU: All 100 students from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) at Tribhuvan University, currently in Israel, are safe.
According to the Office of the Dean, IAAS, these Nepali students are currently employed at three farms located in the Jordan Valley. The students are in Israel as part of an ‘earn and learn’ program.
The IAAS has signed an agreement with Kinnert Academic College in the Jordan Valley for the internship program for Nepali students.
“All 100 IAAS students currently in Israel have come into our contact,” Professor Bhargab Dhital, Dean of IAAS, said in the statement.
According to the statement, 72 out of the 100 students employed at a mushroom farm are currently taking refuge in five bunkers. “We have been informed by the college and the Nepali Embassy in Israel that efforts are underway to relocate these students to a safer location in coordination with the Israeli Defence Forces,” it added.
