KATHMANDU: Ten thematic committees of the House of Representatives held their first meetings on Tuesday.

The senior-most members of the committees chaired their respective meetings, as the committees are yet to elect their chairpersons.

Arjun Narsingh KC of the Nepali Congress chaired the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee, while Lalbir Chaudhary of the Nagarik Unmukti Party chaired the Infrastructure Development Committee. Similarly, Pashupatri Shamsher JBR of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party chaired the meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee.

Ranendra Baraili of CPN (Maoist Center) chaired the Industry, Commerce, Labor, and Consumer Welfare Committee, and the Agriculture, Cooperative, and Natural Resources Committee meeting was chaired by Nawalkrishna Sah Sudhi of the Janata Samajbadi Party. Likewise, Kaluram Rai of CPN-UML chaired the Education and Health Committee, and Chitra Bahadur KC of the Rastriya Janamorcha chaired the State Affairs Committee.

Sher Bahadur Deuba of the Nepali Congress chaired the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee, Roshan Karki of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party chaired the Women and Social Affairs Committee, and Santosh Chalise of the Nepali Congress chaired the Finance Committee.

The committees will now proceed to elect their respective chairpersons.
