Women’s Asia Cup: Pakistan thrashes UAE by 10 wickets

KATHMANDU: Pakistan defeated UAE by 10 wickets in its final group-stage match of the Women’s Asia Cup in Dambulla on Tuesday.

Batting first, UAE scored 103 runs, losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Pakistan overcame the target without losing any wickets, with 35 balls remaining.

Theertha Satish top-scored for UAE with a 36-ball 40. Esha Oza scored 16, and Khushi Sharma contributed 12 runs. Other UAE batters failed to reach double digits.

Sadia Iqbal, Tuba Hassan, and Nashra Sandhu took three wickets each for Pakistan, while Nida Dar contributed with one wicket.

Pakistan chased down the target in 14.1 overs. Gull Feroza scored an unbeaten 62 off 55 balls, while Muneeba Ali scored 37 off 30 balls.

The big victory has significantly boosted Pakistan’s semifinal chances.

Both India and Pakistan have four points each. Nepal, which plays India later on Tuesday, will also have four points if it manages to beat India.

UAE ended its Women’s Asia Cup campaign without any points.
