The cabinet has decided to release Rs 29.71 million to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the purpose

KATHMANDU: Sportspersons of different disciplines will finally be able to receive the cash awards announced by the government.

The cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to release Rs 29.71 million to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the distribution of cash awards, announced at different times by the government, to cricket, kabaddi, karate, and para-taekwondo players, coaches, and officials.

The cabinet decided to release the amount based on a proposal forwarded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The national cricket team alone will receive Rs 20.47 million.

The government announced the cash award after Nepal qualified for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Fifteen players will receive Rs 1.3 million each, while Coach Monty Desai will get Rs 390,000. Similarly, Team Manager Suman Raj Karki, Assistant Coach Basanta Shahi, and Physio Bikram Neupane will get Rs 195,000 each.

Similarly, Karateka Arika Gurung, who won a historic silver medal in the 19th Asian Games, will get Rs 1.95 million. Likewise, Chief Instructor Kushal Shrestha will get Rs 234,000, while Assistant Instructors Ghori Dangol and Bir Krishna Shahi, and Manager Niwas Gopal Baidya will get Rs 195,000.

Twelve members of the Nepali national women’s Kabaddi team will get Rs 390,000 each, while Head Coach Parbati Rai will get Rs 260,000. Likewise, Assistant Coach Bishnu Dutta Bhatta and Manager Dilli Ram Kafle will get Rs 130,000 each.

Nepal won the bronze medal in women’s kabaddi at the 19th Asian Games.

Similarly, Paleshya Govardhan, who won the bronze medal in the 4th Asian Para Games, will get Rs 1.3 million, while Head Coach Kabi Raj Negi and Team Manager Ram Chandra Shrestha will receive Rs 260,000 and Rs 130,000, respectively.
