Rs 20 million heist: APF Head Constable among four arrested

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a Head Constable of the Armed Police Force along with three others for allegedly looting Rs 20 million from the house of Dilli Raj Raut in Bhaktapur.

A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested Muna Raj Rai (35) of Manebhanjyang-3, Okhaldhunga; Bhim Bahadur Tamang (31) and Krishna Bahadur Bohora of Bhotekoshi-2; and Sujan Rasaili (31) of Barhabise-2, Sindhupalchowk.

Bohora is the Head Constable of the Armed Police Force currently deployed at Battalion No.2, Maharajgunj.

According to SP Angjur Joshi of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, the four suspects forced their way into Raut’s home in Dadhiot on June 28, claiming to be officers deployed by the Central Investigation Department of Nepal Police. They then stole Rs 20 million from his cupboard, GC said.

Kul Bahadur Khatri, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the heist, is on the run, according to police.

Khatri is Raut’s maternal uncle.
