President Paudel off to Geneva

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel left for Geneva on Tuesday afternoon to participate in the Inaugural Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice during the International Labor Conference.

President Paudel and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva are scheduled to address the inaugural forum to be held on Thursday.

Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal saw off President Paudel at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. On the occasion, a contingent of the Nepal Army presented a guard of honor to the President. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chairperson of the National Assembly, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, heads of constitutional bodies, chiefs of security agencies, and heads of diplomatic missions were also present at the airport.

President Paudel is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amherd, on Wednesday.

President Paudel is also scheduled to make an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany at the invitation of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The two leaders will also hold formal talks.

The President is accompanied by his spouse, Sabita Paudel. Other members of the delegation include the President’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr. Suresh Chandra Chalise, secretaries from the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepali ambassadors to Switzerland and Germany, and senior officials from the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Paudel is scheduled to return home on June 19.
