KATHMANDU: A Nepal Police constable reportedly committed suicide inside a restroom on the premises of the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwar.

Ekraj Giri, the spokesperson for the Federal Parliament Secretariat, confirmed that Constable Ajit Gole, 22, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. “His body, bearing a bullet injury, was discovered in the restroom,” Giri stated.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Metropolitan Police Circle, New Baneshwar, Shiva Raj Budhathoki, said that an investigation is underway to determine the reasons behind Gole’s decision. “Initial evidence suggests he shot himself. We are probing the circumstances that led to this tragic incident,” Budhathoki said.

Constable Gole was a member of the Special Task Force from the Nepal Police headquarters deployed at the parliament building.
